Search Engine OptimizationMany internet users today use search engines to find what they are looking for. The higher ranked you are, means the more traffic you will receive. Unfortunately, many web sites appear poorly in search engine rankings or may not be listed at all because they fail to consider how search engines work.Search engine optimization means ensuring that your web pages are accessible to search engines and focused in ways that help improve the chances they will be found. There aren't "search engine secrets" that will guarantee a top listing. But there are a number of small changes you can make that can sometimes produce big results. For example, when creating an "Entry page" for a web site many webmasters fail to use web page content, which is critical to boost rankings. Page content should involve a 200 to 250 word paragraph that describes the web site. The paragraph must include specific keywords that relate to the site. With this along side a single picture that contains an Alt Tag and a link to the main page is all that is needed. Another way search engines rank is by link popularity. By analyzing how pages link to each other, a search engine can both determine whether a page is important and/or popular, and thus deserving of a ranking boost. This does not mean that lots of links will generate good ranking as search engines screen out attempts by webmasters to build "artificial" or "spam" links designed to boost their rankings.
